Description

Soricap 25mg contains the active ingredient acitretin, which is a type of retinoid (a form of vitamin A). It is used to treat severe skin conditions such as psoriasis when other treatments have not been effective. Acitretin works by slowing the growth of skin cells, reducing inflammation, and improving the appearance of the skin. Soricap is typically prescribed for long-term management of psoriasis or other severe skin disorders, under careful medical supervision.

Directions

Take Soricap 25mg exactly as prescribed by your healthcare provider, usually once daily with a meal to enhance absorption.
Swallow the capsule whole with water; do not chew or crush it.
It may take several weeks to notice an improvement in your skin condition. Continue taking Soricap as directed, even if you do not see immediate results.
Follow your doctor’s instructions closely, especially if Soricap is used in combination with other therapies.

Special Precautions

Pregnancy Warning: Soricap can cause severe birth defects. Women of childbearing potential must not take Soricap unless they are following strict contraception guidelines. Use two reliable forms of birth control starting 1 month before treatment, during treatment, and for at least 3 years after stopping the medication.
Do not donate blood while taking Soricap and for at least 3 years after stopping it, as the blood could be given to a pregnant woman and cause harm to the fetus.
Inform your doctor if you have a history of liver disease, high cholesterol, kidney problems, or excessive alcohol use before starting Soricap.
Avoid excessive alcohol consumption while taking Soricap, as it can increase the risk of side effects, particularly affecting liver function.
Limit your exposure to sunlight and avoid tanning beds, as Soricap may make your skin more sensitive to sunlight. Use sunscreen and wear protective clothing when outdoors.
Inform your healthcare provider of any other medications or supplements you are taking, as Soricap may interact with other drugs, particularly vitamin A supplements, tetracycline antibiotics, and methotrexate.

Side Effects

Common side effects of Soricap may include:

Peeling of the palms and soles

Serious side effects are rare but may include liver problems, high cholesterol or triglycerides, and bone or joint pain. Seek medical attention immediately if you experience severe headache, vision changes, signs of liver issues (yellowing of the skin or eyes, dark urine), or symptoms of an allergic reaction (rash, itching, swelling, severe dizziness, difficulty breathing).

Missed Dosage

If you miss a dose of Soricap, take it as soon as you remember unless it is almost time for your next dose. If it is close to the time of your next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose and take the next one as directed. Do not double up doses to make up for a missed one.
